This week we have so enjoyed learning about Sunflowers! We were fascinated fact finders, so you can ask us lots of questions!

We have studied paintings carefully by Van Gogh and created our own using dabbing and mixing to add texture and light. They are amazing! Mrs Ellison is so proud of how our skills have developed over the year.

Year 1 News

Year 1 have enjoyed experiencing fire in Forest School over the past couple of weeks. They had a go at making a spark using a Dragon's Sneeze (Flint and Steel). They toasted marshmallows and enjoyed eating the gooey result. They then went off and initiated their own role-play, working together to build campfires.

Year 2 News

Year 2 had their favourite maths lesson of the year on Monday when we collected data from packets of Smarties in order to make pictograms.

We were also fortunate to have a special PE session with Northamptonshire Sport this week. We learned all about Goalball and had a go using blindfolds. It was trickier than we expected but lots of fun for the spectators! Photo gallery

As part of our transition we have completed a fantastic piece of artwork collaboratively and we have been finishing off our individual art to accompany it (see our pictures). In English we have started to write our final Independent Write using the genre of a play script, but that's not all; find out more and see more photos of our week by clicking on our gallery.  Photo gallery

Forest School News

Year 4 had the opportunity to make their own wands this week in Forest School which involved some tool work.  Whilst Year 2 took a slower pace this week, what started off as an observation of snails quickly became a snail race and then a taste test challenge where lots of delicious treats were offered to the snails to see which one they'd move towards to enjoy!  Photo gallery

Music News

On Wednesday 12th July Mrs Cliffe invited some of our experienced musicians, from Years 2-4, to play to an audience of parents and carers.  For many of the children this was their first experience of playing to an audience outside of their family group, the support from parents and carers who could attend the event was much appreciated.  We hope you enjoyed it as much as the children did!   Photo gallery
