Week ending 21st July 2023

Congratulations to our PTA

Congratulations to Monksmoor Park's PTA!

The PTA team were rewarded for their hard work this week as they became a registered charity. This term the team have been worked together to put forward an application, which was accepted first time. Their new charitable status will help the PTA's excellent fundraising and also provide opportunities to apply for grants. Congratulations and our thanks go to Claire, Laura, Gemma, Clemmie and Jemma who have already raised thousands of pounds to help enhance the learning opportunities of our children and to enhance the school environment.

Thank you also to our PTA for organising and hosting our Summer Social event on Thursday 20th July. It creates a wonderful social opportunity for the staff and families of current Monksmoor Park pupils as well as the new September 2023 Reception and Nursery families.

PTA News

The Monksmoor Park PTA expresses a big ‘thank you’ to everyone who joined us at the summer social. Despite the uncertain weather, we were fortunate enough to have a rain-free evening, allowing us to joyfully celebrate the completion of the 2023 school year. We sincerely appreciate all those who generously contributed funds to this event, as it is not intended for profit but rather to provide our children with a memorable celebration and involve their parents as well.

We’ve got a programme of events set for next year and if you’d like to join the PTA do get in touch, we are always happy to have any support! Email monksmoorparkpta@gmail.com

If you are able to help behind the scenes; for example, writing risk assessments, collecting raffle prizes, auditing accounts we’d also love to hear from you, it's not all about running events!

We wish you all a wonderful summer!

This week we said goodbye to our Nursery children as they move onwards and upwards to Reception in September. We are enormously grateful for the support we have received from parents over the last ten months and we celebrated the end of the year with Mr Margieson giving out certificates to each child in class. Goodbye Fox Cubs and enjoy your Summer.  Nursery graduates

We went on a school trip to Mini Meadows Farm this week, whilst there the farmers talked to us about how soil makes produce grow and how to enrich it as well as the kinds of produce from a farm. We had an amazing day and were lucky enough to see the piglets and many animals waiting for feeding time! Well done Hedgehogs you were superstars! What a lovely trip!   Photo gallery

Year 1 News

In Year 1 we have been busy this week completing our Chop, Slice, Mash unit. We have talked about how we can keep our bodies healthy and then enjoyed making a healthy fruit salad. We also designed a sandwich, before making it using our designs. We had some interesting ingredient combinations!

Year 4 News

Well Woodpeckers year has come to a creative end! This week we have spent our time reviewing our learning by creating some double-page spreads. These, highly personalised, documents involved using our memory, and topic books to create some informative pieces of work full of facts. In addition to this we have chosen our own medium to create some Coronation art. We chose paint, pencil, digital, pastel or felt-tips to complete a piece to celebrate the events that saw our new King take the throne.

Later in the week we have turned our hands to weaving! We learnt that weaving was a skill that had developed over the ages and the Anglo-Saxons used the technique to make colourful clothing. Oh and finally we also continued to practise our time tables on the Chromebooks, finished our writing, covered the statutory relationship and sex education topics and enjoyed time playing rounders in PE.

The Year 4 team wishes everyone a fun and relaxing summer and we’ll see you in September.

Forest School

Hedgehogs had a fabulous last Forest School session filled with lots of their favourite activities. There was fun in the mud, superhero play and great amusement to be had blowing huge bubbles.

Some of us spent a long-time bug hunting and we saw some really interesting creatures....the most popular one being the newt. Find out more here

West Northamptonshire Summer Activities

A message from Northamptonshire Children's Trust:

Hello and welcome to this summer edition of Stay Connected.

We have focussed mainly on activities which will be running over the summer holidays. As the newsletter is a live document we are going to update it during the holidays, taking out events which have passed and adding in any new information we come across. There will not be an August edition. We hope you find this useful in finding fun activities to do over the summer break. We have tried organising it by North and West Northamptonshire to make it part more manageable in size.

We have not included the HAF activities as they have their own website and families who are eligible through FSM should have received the codes to access the scheme.

The newsletter is fully accessible and can be read on mobiles or screens.

There is an additional round of the Household Support fund coming up – please keep an eye on Household Support Fund | West Northamptonshire Council (westnorthants.gov.uk) for updates.
