Nursery News

The Fox Cubs in Nursery have continued to find their feet this week as they have enjoyed some more new experiences. We opened the mud kitchen and the children practised using the words full and empty as they made mud pies. We also experimented with what happens when you add water to corn flour, as well as learning how to make snips in paper with scissors.Nursery photo gallery

Year 1 News

Year 1 have enjoyed their first Forest School sessions which were hot and sunny.  They found their wooden cookies and decorated them, made magical potions, played with dens and got muddy!

Year 2 News

Year 2 had lots of fun in RE on Wednesday. We have been learning about the Jewish festival of Hanukkah and this week held our own Hanukkah celebrations! We played dreidel, made our own menorahs and even had doughnuts! Ask us about the miracle of the oil and see what we can remember!

Year 3 have started Art looking at Ammonites and different artistic techniques used in sketching and printmaking.  We have enjoyed using these techniques to explore and design patterns and shapes of Ammonites and reflecting on how

Nature and natural forms can be used as a starting point for artwork.  We are looking forward to broadening our techniques in sculpting!  Year 3 photo gallery

Year 4 News

This week Year 4 have really impressed me with their teamwork in PE. It was lovely to see them supporting each other and working together to achieve their goal. They showed lots of resilience when things didn’t quite go their way too and most importantly had lots of fun together. I was very proud of them! They also started their 10 week strings project with NMPAT which will culminate in a parent concert at the end of the project.

Year 5 News

While half the class enjoyed a dry afternoon in Forest School the others made some tasty, seasonal, soups with Mrs Brock. Lastly we have been thinking about what God means to us and Christians around the world and thought about where do we get our ideas about what God is like, referencing to parts of the Bible – as an outcome of this learning we created our own small art pieces that we will be combining as a whole class piece in our floor book.  More Year 5 news and photos

Forest School News

A damp morning for Year 4 in Forest School which meant the slugs were out in force! We couldn't believe the size or variety in colour and patterning between them. We were able to identify their breathing hole and with close observation were able to actually see it opening and closing as the slug was breathing which was amazing.

Stars of the Week

Well done to all our stars for being a shining example
in faith, love, self-control and patience.

Notices

Car Parking

Unfortunately we have received reports of members of our school parking over residential driveways.  Please ensure you park considerately on the school run and observe the Highway Code when parking your vehicle, to keep Monksmoor Park as safe as possible.

Bear in mind Northants Police advice to residents has been to take photos/videos and report any parking incidents.

Reminder: Dogs on the school site

We are an animal loving school but there are adults and children who are very nervous around dogs and the animals on the playground has negatively impacted them in the morning and afternoon.  As such, we took the decision not to allow any dogs on the school site.

If you bring your dog on the school run, please ensure they are left with a responsible adult and not tied to the school fence.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

KS2 Running Club

We are excited to launch our first ‘Running Club’ for Key Stage 2 pupils.

Starting from the school car park, we will follow the path to and around the country park for 15 mins, then turn round and come back.  Each session, we hope to increase our distance, aiming for 5k.  Once this is achieved, we will continue to 10k!

Using tools such as ‘Couch to 5k’ as our guide, we will learn how to pace ourselves to achieve our goal of completing the Santa Dash on 10th December.
https://www.mytonhospice.org/our-events/event/santa-dash-2023/

The club will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays and leave the school promptly at 8am. Children in Years 3-5 are welcome to attend both days or just one if they wish.  Spaces must be booked on ParentMail to ensure we have parental consent.

Please see the email sent home for more information.

KS2 Business Club

We are looking forward to the start of our first Business Club open to Key Stage 2 children.  The club will be run on a Tuesday from 3.30 – 4.15pm and will start on Tuesday 26th September 2023 until the half-term break.

We will learn about how a business is structured and look at all the different departments such as Logistics, Finance, HR and Health & Safety.  We will work with a Telecommunications Lifting Solutions company based in Warwickshire exploring their set-up, equipment, vehicles and design some marketing communications for them.  This is an opportunity to put our learning into practice, share our knowledge with a company and learn about different businesses.

If your child would like to attend, a space must be booked on ParentMail where parental consent can be given for your child to attend this free after-school club.

Please see the email sent home for more information.

Reminder

The school photographers are visiting us on Monday 9th October for individual portraits and sibling group portraits for children attending school and nursery.

If your child does not normally attend Nursery on Mondays and you would like them to do so, please speak to a member of the Nursery team.

If you do not wish your child to be photographed please contact the school office.
