Nursery News

What a lovely week it has been in Nursery! We rehearsed and then performed our Early Years Nativity 'Shine Star Shine' along with our friends in Hedgehogs class. What a joy it was to see the children standing on the stage and receiving their applause. Well done Fox Cubs. The children have enjoyed acting out the Nativity story with our wooden stable scene and have been posting Christmas letters in the postbox. Nursery photos and more news

Year 1 News

In Year 1 we have been enjoying our art unit on ‘Funny Faces’, where we have been looking at portraits. We have used mirrors to look at our faces and then used sketching pencils to draw our faces in detail. We have also been looking at abstract portraits and created faces using objects from around the room.
This week we used fabric to create a face and used sewing, staples and glue to fasten on the items. Year 1 gallery

We had a frosty and chilly session in Forest School last week. We explored ice and made Christmas trees using sticks and wool. This week was muddy! We continued making our Christmas tree decorations along with magic potions and hunting for elf doors. We also enjoyed rolling down the hill and balancing over the puddle.

Year 3 News

Year 3 enjoyed a trip on Thursday to Baps Shri Swaminarayan Mandir Hindu Temple in London.  First we saw a video showing us how the Temple was built by hand in India and shipped to London for building in 1995.  We then saw how the Hindus worship and walked around viewing all the architecture and statues of the great Gods.  Finally we had an opportunity to ask questions about our experience.

Year 4 News

Year 4 performed brilliantly at their First Access Strings concert on Wednesday. It was wonderful to have such a good turnout of parents too. The wet weather meant PE couldn’t take place outside so Year 4 were put through their paces in the hall during a Body Combat workout online. We were all a bit achey the next day… including Mrs Stewart!

Our Christmas Interactive Trip

Year 4 were so relieved that the rain stayed away long enough for us to walk to Christmas Interactive on Thursday.  "Churches Together in Daventry" gave us a wonderful experience and taught us so much more about the Christmas Story.  Year 4 behaved beautifully, walked sensibly and listened carefully.  We are so proud of them.  Trip photos

Year 5 News

Fractions, fraction, fractions!  Dragonflies continue to learn more about manipulating fractions and the importance of trying to find a common denominator to help them add or subtract complex looking fraction calculations.

In English we have completed our biographies and reviewed our own and a peers work to see if all the success criteria have been included.  In RE we have considered how different artists portray the transfiguration of Jesus and we have written short descriptions of a chosen art pointing out the different elements of the bible scriptures.

In PE we have focussed on agility and stamina activities to improve our overall fitness and finally in computing we have experimented being directors by using iMovie to create short trailers – using a range of different “shots” to draw the viewer in.

Forest School News

The Year 5 children have become more advanced in their weaving of friendship bands by using a guide to create a more intricate pattern.  The next step will be coming up with our own weaving pattern.  We have also enjoyed creating some more advanced obstacles across the ever-growing puddle! News from our KS2 Running Club

On Sunday 3rd December, the KS2 Running Club entered a charity run around Daventry Country Park for the When you Wish Upon a Star charity. Together with other runners we helped raise over £1000 for the children's charity which grants wishes for children with a life-threatening illness.

The Santa Run organiser Sue Norris said:

"Thank you so much to you and your amazing staff and pupils that took part in our 8th Santa dash yesterday.

It was just wonderful to have you all join us this year, and so special to see all the children running for poorly children. They did so well. Every single one. It was a memorable and treasured day.

Please thank them all and parents and teachers that took part. Thanks to you all we have raised £1,148.00 for When you Wish Upon A Star.

I really hope to see you all next year. Have a Very Merry Christmas all of you."
