We hope as many of you as possible will join us for the first Monksmoor Park May Day Celebration on Wednesday 4th May at 1:15 pm. Each class has been practising hard, and they cannot wait to perform their maypole dances for you.
Please remember your purses on the day as our wonderful PTA volunteers will be selling refreshments throughout the afternoon.

Nursery News
This week the children in Nursery have been inspired by the story 'Dear Zoo' and have learned about how to care for different animals. They were delighted to find some beetles and spiders outside and took great care in making sure they were left alone to enjoy their habitat. View More
This week we were lucky enough to have Toni from Northamptonshire Sports visit us to show us how to become archery pros! We learnt how to load and handle the bow safely, how to aim and fire. The children had lots of fun learning the new skill and all had huge smiles on their faces after!
Before Easter, the Hedgehogs learned about the Palm Sunday procession and finding out why it is important to Christians in the lead up to Easter Sunday. They made their own palm leaves to use in a Palm Sunday reenactment. View more

To end our Bright Lights, Big City topic, on Thursday afternoon, Year 1 had a Royal Tea Party. They made their own crowns, cucumber sandwiches and decorated biscuits fit for a King or Queen. Dressed in their royal attire they gathered together for their tea party in the school corridor for the rest of the Monksmoor Park Kingdom to see. View more

Year 1 enjoyed their trip to the Holy Cross Church, before Easter. Rev. Dawn talked us through the events of Holy Week and the children shared what they had learnt about Easter and their thoughts. We considered why Easter is important to Christians and how Christians remember certain events in their worship, such as taking Holy Communion to remember the Last Supper. Find out more

Year 2 Forest School News
'If you go down to Forest School today'........watch out for our guardians of Forest School!
We talked about the folklore stories of the Green Man protecting the woodland and symbolising the rebirth of nature in Spring. The children then had the opportunity to use clay and scavenged natural materials to make their own versions to protect our Forest School site.
The Badgers have been learning to write dialogue in literacy lessons and have been working with fractions in maths. The children have also been busy learning a maypole dance in readiness for the school May Day Celebration next week.
There was lots of excitement for Year 3 this week in Forest School when we practised starting a fire! Pupils had the opportunity to use a flint and steel to create a spark. Find out more

National Sun Awareness Week is a campaign led by The British Association of Dermatologists (BAD). From 3rd - 9th May 2022, it aims to highlight the dangers of exposure to the sun. UV radiation from the sun is the main cause of skin cancer, so it's fitting BAD's Skin Cancer Prevention Committee is overseeing the week.
5 ways you and your children can stay safe in the sun
Wear protective clothing
Use sun cream - the more protection the better - and apply it throughout the day
Limit your time in the sun between 10 am and 4 pm as these are peak hours
Wear sunglasses
Sit in the shade at regular intervals
