We have begun our new Healthy Eating topic 'Ready Steady Grow' this week and the children the opening of our new role-play area cafe. The children have continued to impress with their balance bike skills and we have also been retelling the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, acting the story out as well as making a bear house outside with the wooden building blocks.

Year 1 News

We have been doing yoga as part of our PE curriculum. The children enjoyed creating different poses based around different themes. They have been working with a partner to create a flow using the taught poses.
In computing we have been exploring the Beebots. We have been busy finding out what all the buttons do and then tried to create a simple command to send the Beebot to a friend.  Year 1 gallery

Year 2 News

Year 2 have started a new unit in D&T called "Remarkable Recipes" which is all about cooking and nutrition. This week we have been testing out lots of different kitchen tools and selecting which is most suited for each job. We selected the best tools for mashing, cutting, spreading, grating, and spreading. We talked about how to use each tool safely and for it's intended purpose. Look out for our culinary delights later in the term!  Year 2 photo gallery

We have started the term off focussing on OAA (outdoor adventurous activities) in our PE lessons. We will develop problem-solving skills through a range of challenges working independently, as a pair or in small groups to plan, explore, solve, reflect and improve on strategies. Our aim is to learn what makes a good team and explore key skills such as inclusion and trust.  More news and photos

Year 4 News

Welcome back Year 4! We have had a busy first week, starting our history unit on Ancient Sumer and learning about the features of newspaper articles in English.

We enjoyed learning how to sketch people in our first art lesson of the year too. One highlight so far has to have been how the children threw themselves (literally at times) into our new dance topic based on Spies and Secret Agents.  More news

Forest School News

Reception have been learning about birds in Forest School. We have had fun spotting toy ones hidden in our trees and bushes and are trying to learn some of their names. We made cookie cutter bird cakes from lard and seed to make sure they had something tasty to eat in the colder weather. They made our hands really sticky when we had to mix the ingredients together!

Year 4 have been working on their teamwork and perseverance skills in their Forest School sessions. They worked well in pairs to carry a ball with sticks while balancing along a plank. We used varying widths of sticks as well as different sizes and numbers of balls. Some pairs decided to add an extra challenge by including an obstacle!

Notice for all year groups:

Please can I stress the importance of warm clothing in these colder months as we are out in all weathers for a long session. Layers are perfect and spare socks essential. The children sometimes wear their own coats under the school waterproof suits so if you have an older coat it would be worth sending that in on a Forest School day if you don't want a school coat to get dirty/wet. Thank you for your help with this.

Our Weekly SHINE Awards

Well done to all our stars for being a shining example.
