Nursery News

We have continued to practice following instructions this week and have used our cutting skills to enjoy a tasty and healthy fruit salad. We found that fruit is a lot messier to cut than vegetables. We developed our understanding of story structure by enjoying the tale of Handa's Surprise and learned the names of seven different fruits and seven different animals.  Nursery photo gallery

This week in Reception we have been experimenting with materials and testing to see what is best for a roof, as well as looking at forces including the wind and huffing and puffing like the wolf to move different items with air! We have also enjoyed our new role-play and learning about the Lunar New Year and Emperor's Story and thinking about the concepts of more and representing this in maths using 5 frames.  More photos

Year 1 News

In Year 1 we have been very busy with our topic on 'Bright Lights, Big City'. We have been focussing on the geography of the United Kingdom, learning about human and physical features of the UK. We have built a 3D town using our design and technology skills to create buildings out of junk. We have also created some maps for a town thinking about the human features we would want to see. Year 2 News

In RE this week we consolidated our learning about places of worship for the term. We worked with a partner to create cubes containing information about the symbols and objects used in synagogues, churches and mosques and how they are used. They are now in our reflection area to enjoy a little longer.

Year 3 News

In Year 3 we have been continuing our Holy Trinity learning. We were reflecting on the baptism of Jesus.  We discussed the parts of the Baptism, the people who were there and the presence of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. We worked in groups and freeze framed a significant scene during the Baptism.

Year 4 News

The crisp winter sunshine and drier days have meant that Year 4 has been able to make the most of our outdoor space and practice our Tag Rugby skills. On Tuesday we marked Safer Internet Day with a live lesson with CBBC where we explored AI technology and took part in a range of different activities. We also had a lesson to explore how the internet influences us and how we can manage this.  Year 4 photos

Forest School News

Our 'SHINE' principles of 'Inclusivity' and 'Never giving up' were very much in evidence at Forest School this week.

Some of the Year 3 children created 'God's Eye' weavings on lolly sticks. The patterns took a lot of concentration and perseverance, but the results made it all worthwhile. Others decided to create two huge slides down the bank - one was even enclosed!  Find out more

Children's Mental Health Week

{item_alt_tag}

This week in addition to Safer Internet Day Tuesday it was also Children's Mental Health Week. This year the theme was 'My voice matters'.

We started the week with an informative Collective Worship led by Mrs Towers and continued this in your class with lovely activitities which taught us more about how and why we should express ourselves and listen to each other. Some of us played the Whisper Game, a circle game which taught us about listening carefully and that when listening to someone else we use more than just our ears. Others found reasons they could feel proud of themselves recently and about why we should take time to celebrate ourselves and puff out our chests with pride but also why we should take time to celebrate others.

Some class groups talked about how they learn best and what gets in the way of their learning. The children and adults worked as a class team to make sure their classroom is the best place to learn.

If you would like more infromation on Children's Mental Health Week or family resources for the themed week they are available on the Place2Be website.

Candlemas Service

Rev. Dawn and Rev. Lesley visited us today to celebrate the festival Candlemas. Candlemas is celebrated 40 days after the birth of Jesus. It marks the date when Mary and Joseph brought the baby Jesus to the temple to be presented to God. At the temple they met Anna and Simeon. Simeon held up the baby Jesus and named him, 'the Light to the World'. Find out more
