Week ending 6th January 2023

Nursery News

It's been a healthy return to Nursery as we have begun our new topic 'Ready Steady Grow' and opened our new healthy eating café in the role-play area.  The children have begun to learn about what jobs are done on a farm, what foods are grown there and how they get to the shops.

Is your child turning 4 years old
on or before 31st August 2023?

If your child turns 4 years old on or before 31st August there is one week left to make an application for primary school.  Applications must be made by 15th January 2023, for more information on this deadline and other key dates see the West Northamptonshire Council website.

Your application must be made through your local authority, if you are local to our school you need to use the West Northamptonshire Council website.

A place at our nursery does not guarantee a place at our school.  All school applications must be made with your local authority as nursery and school allocations are separate processes.

For more information on admissions visit the West Northamptonshire Council website.

Year 1 News

In Year 1 this week we have completed our topic on ‘Funny Faces’.  We looked at the work of Giuseppe Arcimboldo and how he created art using natural objects including fruits and vegetables.  We then had a go at creating our own portraits using a range of different fruits and vegetables.

See our photo gallery here.

During the afternoon of Thursday 12th January, we have a Jewish visitor coming in to school to talk to Year 1 and Year 2.

In Year 1, we will be finding out all about the celebration of Shabbat to support our learning in RE this term. The children will have the opportunity to taste Challah bread.

In order to cover the costs of this visit and food, we would like to ask for a voluntary contribution of £2.40 that can be made on the website Pay360. Please could you do so by 27th January.

If your child is eligible for Pupil Premium then please contact the school office, as we may be able to offer support.

We are sure that the children will enjoy the experience and that it will provide them with a valuable opportunity to enrich their learning.

Year 2 News

Year 2 have come back with a bang this week!  We kicked off our new theme "The Scented Garden" by working together to make scented playdough.  We used lots of skills to measure the ingredients and problem solve when the dough started off too wet!  Everyone enjoyed the finished product.

Find out more here.

Year 3 News

Year 3 Badgers have settled well into the new term.  The children have started their new art topic about mosaics.  A new topic has also been started in RE, our big question is: What is the Trinity?

We are finishing our English poetry topic.  The children will be planning and then independently writing their own poem about winter.  It would be useful if you could talk about winter in terms of the weather, animals, nature as well as celebrations as this will help them with their independent write.

Year 4 News

This week we have been jumping straight back in to our learning in Year 4 and have started several new units of work.  For PE we have started to build on our teamwork and communication skills by completing a series of Outdoor and Adventurous Activities (OAA) including following a given set of instructions to move between a set of cones.  For more news click here.
