Nursery News

The Nursery children enjoyed a day in the sunshine on our trip to Mini Meadows last week, meeting goats, llamas, alpacas and sheep. We learned about what foods different animals can eat and about the different environments in which animals thrive.

Year 1 had a wonderful day at Twycross Zoo! The highlight was the tiger coming to say hello right above our heads on the transparent tunnel! Everyone was extremely excited! Emma said, “This trip was so amazing, it blew my mind!” Jacob said, “It was fantastic when the tiger jumped on the tunnel”. We all agreed it was a ROARsome day!

In Year 1 Forest School, we have been preparing for our fire experience by discussing our fire circle rules, weeding the fire circle, whittling marshmallow sticks and practising making a flame using our Dragon's Sneezes! (flint and steel). We have also enjoyed making bubbles, obstacle courses, playing hide and seek and making mobiles.

Year 2 News

Year 2 had a fantastic trip on Monday to the Sea Life Centre in Birmingham. We had a great day seeing a range of colourful and intriguing underwater creatures. Some of them made us laugh and giggle a lot! We even had the opportunity to touch a live starfish which was very special.

Year 4 News

Year 4 have been working hard, perfecting their grammar this week in order to improve their writing.  They have loved learning all about the pitch of sound, even if the straw experiment didn't quite work out as planned.

One of their favourite lessons is History, as they are learning all about the Saxons and Vikings.  Last week  made Long ships and this week we learnt about what was discovered at Sutton Hoo.

The class really love swimming too and all the teachers are full of praise for them.

There is still plenty to learn about before the end of term and Mrs Towers has promised we will try Saxon food and nettle tea!

Forest School News

The children have had the opportunity to do so many different activities within their recent Forest School sessions and we have certainly had the full range of weather! There has been a variety of cooking going on from the thrill of observing popcorn kernels exploding into the popcorn we recognise, to marshmallows being toasted for smores and our first try at using the hanging tripod grill to make toast. The snacks definitely taste better outside when you've made them yourself! More news and photos
