Physical Development
At Monksmoor Park CE Primary children take part in a range of fun, daily rhythmic movement exercises that support lower brain development whilst increasing physical development skill.
Staff assess, plan, and individualise learning through play to meet each child’s needs. Tailored support is then given coupled with access to high quality vestibular play opportunities through equipment indoors and outside so children’s work, rest and play is enhanced. Whether rocking, climbing, sliding, self-propelling or crawling we help build strong vestibular skills that improve balance, locomotion and coordination.
This lays strong foundations for future literacy and maths success, through enhanced visual tracking, auditory discrimination, lower brain ordering, language development and focus. By prioritising core strength and muscle tone through movement we build independence and self-care, as well as supporting self-regulation and positively impacting on day-to-day ability to complete activities and readiness for Key Stage 1.
