Forest School - Year 4
Wow! What an adventure Year 4 had on their first trip to the Country Park for their Forest School session!
We spent our first visit exploring the area that we have been given permission to use and looking at its possibilities. We were pleased to find a number of grey squirrels sharing the site and were amazed at how quickly they could scamper up a tree when they heard us approaching! We played detective and were able to identify some signs of the food they like to eat by finding discarded and nibbled nutshells.
We really enjoyed having some large, mature trees to climb up, balance on and swing off! It was great to see the children assessing their own capabilities and I'm sure over the next few weeks the children will find themselves climbing higher and reaching further as they grow in size and confidence. There were some fantastic den spaces to explore and hide in too - I think the favourite was inside a tree! Hide and seek games are certainly going to become more fun! (Maybe not for Mrs Copland and Mrs Ronnie though!)
