Year 4 experience Ancient Egypt
To bring our topic on Ancient Civilisations to a close, Year 4 enjoyed an Ancient Egyptian workshop hosted by Historic Workshops on Monday. They were taught to mummify a body to ensure its safe passage to the afterlife, learnt about and handled replica artefacts and worked as a team to plan an Ancient Egyptian city and see how it fared in the face of random world events. After lunch they played Senet and Mancala (some of the first board games played in ancient times) and used reed pens to write hieroglyphics on papyrus. The children demonstrated a great understanding of what they had already learnt and were very enthusiastic about the activities.
