Year 5 investigate pH values

Dragonflies have begun to plan and map out their exploration narratives within English this week and have examined how careful vocabulary choices can impact the impression we give the reader of our characters. In maths we have looked at how we can use our understanding of adding fractions to multiplying and finding parts of an amount.

In science we investigated the pH values of unknown liquids and identified whether they were acid, neutral or alkaline – we were amazed at just how acidic cola was, we must remember to brush our teeth if we are drinking it in the evening. In Topic we have looked at the daily life of children in Ancient Greece and made comparisons with our previous learning about the different city states of Athens and Sparta. In computing we have used physical inputs to control the “flow and logic” of our programmed Micro:bits and in RE we have looked at how Jesus' teachings relate to today's world.
