Forest School Friends and Cheeky Crows
Reception listened to the story of 'The Disgusting Sandwich' by Gareth Edwards in their session before half-term and then really enjoyed creating their own for the creatures of Forest School to find. Mmmmm delicious!! Unfortunately, the second group had to use giant leaves in place of bread for their sandwich as Mrs Copland had very naively left the sealed bread bags unattended while she registered and collected the children up at school. In that short space of time some cheeky crows had devoured the lot!! Leaving just the pecked plastic bags behind!
We also decorated our own Forest School necklaces and it was lovely to chat to our friends in the sunshine while we did. Using a flint and steel to light a fairy fire is still a very popular activity and we are definitely improving our technique.
We really enjoy hunting for minibeasts and use our bug pots and magnifying glasses to observe them more closely. This year we have found a particularly handsome red beetle which we think is a cardinal or soldier beetle. We are going to look at our insect books to decide which it is!
