Forest School - Toast and Crumpets!
Key Stage 2 have been focusing on fire in their Forest School sessions. As well as the normal fun, games and activities some children in Year 3 enjoyed using a flint and steel independently to create a spark which could then be used to light a cotton wool ball or 'fairy fire'. The perseverance, resilience and determination shown was amazing and the support, advice and encouragement the children gave each other was really something to be proud of. A truly practical representation of our school values.
Year 4 took their skills further by working in groups to lay an effective fire. Once it was lit the children directed us where to place the larger pieces of wood to keep the fire burning. They could then enjoy toasting some bread or crumpets on it. Yum!
