Year 2 - Coastline comparisons and a visit from the RNLI
Our "Coastline" topic is a fast-growing favourite! This week we enjoyed making comparisons about the seaside town of Whitby in the past and present. We laughed at the traditional swimming costumes people used to wear and decided we would much prefer our current ones!
On Wednesday 22nd May we were lucky to have a visit from the RNLI. James, one of their volunteers, spoke to us about how to keep safe near the water. We learned all about the meaning of the RNLI flags, what hazards to look for near the water and how to float in a star shape if we face difficulty. It was perfect timing for all those beach holidays during the half-term break! We made our own posters to show our learning which will be sent home soon to share.
