Year 2 - Visit from the RNLI
To link with our Coastline theme, Squirrels were lucky to have a visit from the RNLI this week. Alison came to speak to us about water safety and how the RNLI help people at the coastline. There were 4 key messages: stop and think, stay together, float, and call 999. We even had our very own lifeguards dressed in the uniform!
Alison taught us all about the meaning of the flags we might see at the beach and where is safe to swim. We especially enjoyed practising floating on our backs in a star shape and shouting for help!
Mrs Harrison has very fond memories of an RNLI visit when she was a child so as an extra special treat she was presented with her very own RNLI pencil to remember this visit too. We all enjoyed the visit and hope the children feel equipped to stay safe around the water this summer.
